Ortiz Jackson was arrested by the New Orleans Police Department for shooting a 32-year-old female and killing a 34-year-old male, Officer Shereese Harper, a NOPD spokeswoman, said.

Police said the incident occurred at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Laine Avenue on July 10.

Seventh District officers responded to call of a shooting, finding a male lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head and a woman with a gunshot wound to the arm, police said.

The male was pronounced dead on the scene and woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

Police said that Jackson was identified by investigators and was arrested without incident.
