An unidentified man was shot and killed in the backyard of a home in Algiers, NOPD spokeswoman Officer Jonette Williams said.

Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Fourth District officers responded to a call of shots being fired, findings the victim in the backyard of a house in the 1500 block of Murl Street in Algiers, police said.

The victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, was found by police with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, police said.

Police are still searching for a motive and suspect or suspects.
