NEW ORLEANS - The super krewe of Orpheus, and its co-founder Harry Connick Jr., will celebrate the parade’s 20th anniversary by premiering a special song written by Connick, the krewe announced Thursday, adding that actors Gary Sinise and Mariska Hargitay will be among its celebrity guests.

Connick has written a song dedicated to the krewe’s signature float, the Smokey Mary, called “Smokey Mary Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train.”  An image of the float will also appear on the cover of a new Mardi Gras album which Connick is producing, krewe captain Sonny Borey said.

Parade riders will also throw a special commemorative LED necklace that plays the song’s chorus.

Joining Connick as celebrity riders in the parade will be actor Gary Sinise, one of the stars of the CBS series “CSI New York,” as well as actress Mariska Hargitay, and musician Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews.

The parade rolls on Lundi Gras - Monday, Feb. 11 and its floats will honor past parade themes.

Another specialty throw will be a doubloon featuring the krewe’s 2013 Musical Legend, Uncle Lionel Batiste, the bass drummer, vocalist, and assistant leader of the Treme Brass Band, who died in July.
