NEW ORLEANS - Fat Tuesday brought the return of a lost tradition for the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club.

The Little Gem Saloon in the Central Business District was recently reopened, after being restored to its former glory as a supper club.

As they did in decades past, Tuesday morning riders on Zulu's Big Shot float were able to enjoy breakfast and put on their makeup at the historic jazz venue.

The club was also used by Zulu over the years for funerals for members, and the very first jazz musicians played on the Little Gem's stage more than 100 years ago.
