NEW ORLEANS - Norwich University in Vermont is the oldest private military college in the United States and birthplace of the ROTC.

The proud institution is represented each year at the Mardi Gras Drill Competition by it's Shock Platoon, the Norwich Regimental Drill Team.

In 2011, they appeared on the Eyewitness Morning News and went on to take second place in the competition.

Hoping to do better in 2012, they visited the studio again on Thursday morning.

They will defend their title Friday at Tulane's George Westfeldt Practice Facility. The competition is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you want to meet the team, you can have lunch with them Thursday at 11:30 a.m at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood company on Veterans, or you can have dinner with the drill team at Oki Nago Restaurant on North Arnoult.

For more details on those events, visit WWLTV.com and click on Links on 4.

Members of the Shock Platoon gave us a demonstration of their skills.
