NEW ORLEANS - The krewes for both parades Wednesday night have worked months getting ready for their ride, and one of those is a brand new one.

The Krewe of Nyx said they are ready to roll and have their floats lined up on South Peters, waiting to make the journey to the parade starting line.

Generally, it takes severe weather (thunderstorms and lightning) before a parade is re-scheduled.

It happened last year, mainly to Endymion, which was forced to reschedule to Sunday after severe weather moved over New Orleans.

Capitans of some of the parades that roll on Saturday said they're keeping a close eye on the weather at this point, because it looks like there could be some rain.

Last year, day parades on Saturday rolled two hours early in order to avoid the worst of the weather.

On Wednesday night, there are two parades rolling Uptown, Druids and Nyx, and both set to go.

The Krewe of Ancient Druids will hit the streets at 6:30 p.m. Uptown. The krewe's theme, design, and royalty are all kept secret until parade time. There will be 18 floats with 200 riders.

Then, at 7 p.m., the new all-female Krewe of Nyx will roll for the first time ever Uptown. WWL-TV's Karen Swensen is serving as grand marshal. The 534 member krewe has 20 floats.

You can find out exactly where many of the parades through Fat Tuesday are, along the route with our "Experience Mardi Gras" app.  We are tracking Nyx live from start to finish. It's free from your phone's app store. You can also see maps and a full parade lineups leading up to Mardi Gras on the app.
