Tucks is known for its irrevent spirit and unique style. This year’s 45th annual parade, featuring some 1,000 members, should be no different. The krewe was founded in 1969 by local college students, who named their krewe after the familiar Robin Hood character, whose name also graced the popular Uptown bar where the idea for the krewe was hatched. This year’s theme is Tucks Uncovers History, featuring 32 floats. Students and alumni from Loyola University, as part of the school’s centennial celebration, will also be featured in the parade. Also, look for the signature “toilet seat” float – now an icon of this irreverent krewe.
