Like honorable mention winners Babylon and Chaos, which parade on the night before it, Hermes is a nighttime New Orleans parade featuring an old-line look. This is one where what you catch should not be the thing you talk about on the way home. Instead, appreciate the artistry of the floats passing in front of you. It’ll take you back a couple of generations, at least to the 1930s, when this krewe was founded. In recent years, it’s become even more special, as the krewe puts extra effort into putting on a visual spectacle.
