10 must-see Mardi Gras parades
Krewe d'Etat
3/4, Uptown, 6:00 p.m.
Parade route
Call this one the up and comer. It’s not your father’s Carnival parade. But dad will get the jokes and laugh right along with you. Biting satire, clever themes (often with a political twist) and parade innovations, all reflecting a wicked sense of humor. The krewe’s theme is depicted on original floats featuring sculptured figures of its intended “targets.” A playful, though secretive, krewe with a monarch called the “Dictator,” a “High Priest” and an after-parade party called the Revolution.
