10 must-see Mardi Gras parades
Mid-City

Parade route
This is the only parade on this list where foil takes the place of papier mache. It’s one of the best daytime parades because on a sunny day the brightly-colored foil floats can’t be beat. The people behind it are true Carnival lovers, and put their heart and soul into every aspect. It no longer parades in the neighborhood that shares its name, but still has a homespun feel to it, and is a fixture on the Sunday before Mardi Gras. It also upholds a tradition, which it started, of animating parts of its floats. The boy scouts no longer pull the strings, but Mid-City stays on track.
