Lundi Gras has become a beautiful celebration of the best of the old and new Carnival. First, with 19th century Proteus. Then the super krewe of Orpheus, with floats that shimmy and sparkle down the street, carrying more flowers than you’ll find in Dan Gill’s garden, more celebrities than you can count, more color, more imagination, and new icons like the Leviathan and Smokey Mary. Harry Connick Jr.’s krewe often has music as its inspiration, but is much more a visual treat than anything else.
