10 must-see Mardi Gras parades

2/27, Uptown, 6:30 p.m. The ladies of Muses are entering their second decade stronger than ever, with a membership of more than 1,000 women, who put on one of the most popular nighttime parades in Carnival. Their theme pokes fun at the news and newsmakers; their krewe-emblemed throws are clever and numerous (including the iconic shoe); the community spirit of their parade and women's movement has earned them points; and their parade has become a mix of marching groups and small bands that have become must-sees (The Rolling Elvi, the Bearded Oysters, Lady Godivas, Muff-A-Lottas and the 610 Stompers, to name just a few). We should point out that Muses paved the way for Nyx, which parades on the night before and in just a few short years will also likely make its way onto must-see lists like this.
