Mardi Gras Indians usually spend a year or more crafting these giant works of art, using whatever handy items they can find – cardboard, sequins, feathers, or anything that helps bring their vision to life. Each suit is hand-sewn without wiring.
Here is the suit of Charles Taylor, big chief of the White Cloud Hunters. He became big chief in the 1980s and was featured in National Geographic documentaries.
