Over the next week, hundreds of floats will roll down the streets of the city and suburbs in nearly 35 Carnival parades. That's not even including the truck parades on Fat Tuesday, which seem like they have 1,000 floats each.
Many are rolling works of art, built on canvases that are easily erased and redesigned the following year. But some, often called signature floats, return each year and have become true icons of the celebration.
As a sign of just how crazy Carnival can be to the outsider or untrained eye, WWLTV.com's list includes a dinosaur, a train, a shoe, a whale, an ox, two alligators and even a toilet seat.
