Every year on Fat Tuesday, the Mardi Gras Indians take to the streets.
Often unannounced, the Indians from different gangs from uptown and downtown, gangs like the Creole Wild West and Yellow Pocahontas, appear all over the city to display their handmade costumes in an ancient tradition unique only to New Orleans.
