Inside the Rex den: The history and floats of N.O.'s most celebrated parade

One of New Orleans’ most celebrated parades, Rex is held each year on Fat Tuesday, the final day of Mardi Gras. Its 139 history is among the city’s most storied, and to learn more about the history of the krewe, we went to its home base on S. Claiborne Avenue where all of the work on the floats is done.
We had Dr. Stephen Hales, Rex’s archivist, give us a tour of the den to let us see some of the krewe’s floats and its relics of the past.
