Mardi Gras World embraces busy season
Alex Sherrod, a spokesman and artist for Mardi Gras World, said the hours are tough come Mardi Gras season. He's working 12 hours a day, usually finishing a prop within two to four days.
Here, he works on an incense burner for an Orpheus float. He said the piece was originally a part of a Russian building. The bottom that will support the incense burner is recycled from a past parade, which he said is a common tactic to battle shoe-string budgets and to keep things local.
