Just two weeks before their parade is set to roll, members of the krewe of Bacchus brought their families, friends and guests to an open house Saturday at Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World in Algiers.
Krewe members got a sneak peek at the floats which will roll in this year's parade, which features a special theme paying tribute to "America's Greatest Generation."
Krewe officials and artists from Blaine Kern studios worked closely with the National World War II Museum in developing the theme and its float images, which depict everything from Rosie the Riveter and the Battle of Iwo Jima to the USO, Bob Hope and Winston Churchill.
This year's celebrity monarch, actor Andy Garcia, will lead the 1,250+ men of the krewe as Bacchus XLIII, when the parade rolls Uptown and into the Morial Convention Center on Sunday, Mar. 6.
