NEW ORLEANS - The community is coming together Thursday at Mardi Gras World to raise funds to help the family of injured Tulane football player Devon Walker.
Walker is still in the hospital in the early stages of the recovery process, and his medical bills are mounting.
He suffered a severe spinal injury in a September 8 game in Tulsa.
Not one restaurant or person denied Barry Kern, the president and CEO of Mardi Gras World, when he called to ask for help with the fundraiser. Kern said this was a sign of how the community has come together in support for the player.
Great food, a fantastic band and acution items will be featured at the event, Kern said.
"One hundred percent of all proceeds will go to Devon and his family," Kern said. "Let's get a lot of people out here and let's support Devon."
The event is from 8 p.m. to midnight. It is $10 for students and $20 for adults.
