NEW ORLEANS - The Greek community in New Orleans is one of the oldest in the country and, as with all of the city's emigrants, has contributed richly to the local culture.
Once a year, we all get to share in a celebration of their heritage.
The Greek Festival kicks off on Friday, and we were in the studio kitchen with festival organizer Gail Psilos and Mike Kleamenakis, who showed us a goat burger recipe.
If you're looking for something to do to start your holiday weekend, the Greek Festival is Friday through sunday at the Hellenic Cultural Center at 1200 Robert E. Lee Blvd.
For more information on the festival, call 282-0259 or visit greekfestnola.com.
