NEW ORLEANS - Sharon Martin is a well known and well respected jazz singer in New Orleans, but who knew she could transform herself into one of the greatest jazz singers of all time - Billie Holiday.

"Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill" is a theatrical presentation on the latter years of the tragic singer's life.

Because it received such rave reviews in May, the show has been extended through the month of June.

The star of the show, Martin, and the director, Tommye Myrick, were in the studio to tell us more about the show.

You can hear Martin's tribute to Holiday every Friday in June, and the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Essence Fest, at the JuJu Bag Cafe' at 5363 Franklin Ave. The show starts at 8pm. For reservations, call 872-0969.

We were lucky to hear a sampling of the production in the studio on Monday.
