NEW ORLEANS - The Roosevelt Hotel will pay tribute to a couple of events in its colorful past.

The first, happening Thursday night, commemorates the birthday of frequent hotel guest, former Governor Huey P. Long.

Then on Friday, the hotel will re-create the "Stormin' of the Sazerac." The celebration commemorates an event that occurred 63 years ago - women were given equal, year-round status with men at the Sazerac Bar.

Roosevelt Assistant Director of Food and Beverage Mark Ernst and and Leslie Courrages of Retro Active Vintage were in the studio to talk about the event and the fashions of the 1940s.

Much of the day will be focused on fashion, with a vintage glamor contest, hat modeling and a vintage fashion show.

Courrages showed us some of the fashions you may see on Friday at the Roosevelt.

Long's 119th birthday will be celebrated with a performance of "Kingfish" on Thursday. The event will be held in the Blue room and begins at 6:30 p.m. For reservations, call the Roosevelt at 335-3138.

You can also dial that number to reserve your spot for the ladies-only lunch that will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday. At 3 p.m., the re-creation of the historic "Stormin' of the Sazerac" in the hotel's Sazaerac Bar begins.
