NEW ORLEANS - For the first time this year, the French Quarter Fest will offer four days of free music throughout the French Quarter and along the riverfront.

The festival has become a huge regional attraction, bringing hundreds of thousands of people, including a few criminals, to the French Quarter each day.

Most people have a great time and are safe because of the added security provided by the city.

Still, there are things you should remember to protect yourself and your property.

The Crimestoppers app can be used to send information on any crimes witnessed at festivals or anywhere else.

Darlene Cusanza of Crimestoppers joined us Wednesday with more on the app and safety tips.

If you witness a crime or have information that can lead to the arrest and indictment of a criminal suspect, you can send in your tip by using the Crimestoppers mobile app or calling 822-1111. Either way, you can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a cash reward.
