NEW ORLEANS - A new book exhibited at the Historic New Orleans Collection gives us a fascinating glimpse into 18th century life in Louisiana.
"Company Man: The Remarkable French-Atlantic Voyage of a Clerk for the Company of the Indies" is accompanied by an exhibit, "Pipe Dreams: Louisiana Under the French Company of the Indies from 1717-1731."
Both show the trade relations between people of Indian, European and African descent as well as how that all contributes to this area's culture.
Erin Greenwald, the chief curator for the exhibit and editor of the book, was in the studio on Monday.
She will discuss and sign copies of the book Tuesday at the Hubbell Branch of the New Orleans Public Library in Algiers.
The book is available at local bookstores and at the Historic New Orleans Collection, as well as online.
The free exhibit opens Tuesday and runs through September 15 at the Historic New Orleans Collection at 533 Royal Street.
