NEW ORLEANS - Strong literacy and the power of education - these are the two principles New Orleans First Lady Cheryl Landrieu and civil rights icon Ruby Bridges believe in.

It is also what brought them together to host the New Orleans Children's Book Festival

The festival is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Latter Branch Library on St. Charles Avenue.

A night of free music inspired by children's literature will occur Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Latter Branch Library.
