Carnival time is battle of the band time as high school marching bands compete in several Carnival parades, but it's also when the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation kicks off its "Class Got Brass" competition for middle school and high school music programs.

Joining the Eyewitness Morning News with more on the contest is Scott Aiges, Director of Programs for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, and Kelvin Harrison, Director of the KIPP McDonogh 15 Middle School Brass Band, last year's "Class Got Brass" winners.

Remember, you've got to apply for the "Class Got Brass" 2014 Battle of the Brass Bands Competition before March 10, and for more information on the contest or to sign up on line, click here.
