NEW ORLEANS - After District E City Councilman Jon Johnson resigned and pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges, the city council chose attorney Ernest "Freddie" Charbonnet to fill that seat as an interim councilman.

He joined us for the first time Thursday to talk about some of the progress and problem that he sees in his district, which includes the Lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans East.

All residents, business owners, churches and community organizations in District E are invited to a unity meeting, hosted by Charbonnet.

The meeting is October 18 at City Church on the I-10 Service Road at 6 p.m.

There will be a District E candidate forum Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Sarah T. Reed High School Auditorium.
