NEW ORLEANS - Friday marks the first day of the 2012 hurricane season and we've already had a bit of activity in the Atlantic.
But, just because there are no immediate storms on the horizon, it doesn't mean you don't have to prepare for one.
Deputy mayor for public safety in Orleans Parish, Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Sneed, wanted to let everyone know some important numbers for Orleans.
If you have special needs, or will need help evacuating this hurricane season, you can pre-register for the city's Assisted Evacuation Plan by calling the city's information hotline at 311.
All residents can sign up for storm alerts or electronic alerts by e-mail, cell phone or other electronic devices by logging on to ready.nola.gov.
