NEW ORLEANS - Every year, just as families are about to shop for school supplies, the Louisiana Department of Revenue holds a sales tax holiday.
Though not exclusively for back-to-school purchases, the tax exemption can be a great bargain for parents of school age children.
Keith DeBautte, who manages the southeast region of the department, joined us with more on the holiday.
The 2012 holiday is Friday and Saturday.
The 4 percent tax exemption is for the first $2,500 on the purchase of each eligible item.
