As one chapter closes on a big St. Tammany controversy, another is heating up.

Voters elected Doctor Charles Preston as St. Tammany Coroner to replace Doctor Peter Galvan, who is now in prison, serving a two-year federal sentence for corruption.

The new controversy for St. Tammany is the controversial oil drilling process known as fracking, which could be coming to an area of the parish, and that has some residents pretty concerned. Director of Public Information, Ronnie Simpson joins the Eyewitness Morning News with details and information on a public meeting.

Parish Council Member Jake Groby will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed fracking project Monday, May 12, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Castine Center at Pelican Park in Mandeville.
