It wasn't that long ago that the Freret Street neighborhood was struggling financially, and now it's a thriving business district with restaurants and retail stores, as well as lots of community activities, the most recent of which is the Freret Oyster Jam, which will debut this weekend.

The Freret Street Oyster Jam is the brainchild of Woody Ruiz of Woody's Fish Tacos stand, who joins the Eyewitness Morning News with Chef Jerry Harkins of Clancy's to talk more about the Jam as well as prepare a wonderful oyster spaghetti.

If you want to be a part of the first Freret Oyster Jam, it kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Freret Street Publiq House and goes until 8 p.m. that evening. For more information, call (504) 826-9912 or click here for their website.
