New Orleans and Baton Rouge are topping a list that should be a wake-up call to everyone living in southern Louisiana, because they are constantly in the top 10 cities across the United State for new cases of HIV and AIDS.
The best way to avoid becoming a statistic is to be proactive and get tested, and there is a free test you can take that will give you the results in one minute. Dr. Mark Alain Dery, Director of Tulane's T-Cell Clinic, joins the Eyewitness Morning News with more.
The 5th Annual HIV Awareness Music Project is Friday night at the Howlin' Wolf. Doors open at 8:30 pm, tickets are $15 and all the proceeds will benefit the Tulane T-Cell clinic. You can get a HIV test on site, and it's a swab test, so the results will take about 20 minutes. For more information call 504-609-3582.
