Father Harry Tompson had a special concern for the poor and homeless of New Orleans so he started a ministry back in 1999, but since then, the Harry Tompson center was developed at the Rebuild Center behind St. Joseph Church on Tulane Avenue.
It's a day shelter for the city's homeless where they can take a hot shower, get clean clothes, or get a physical checkup, and to keep Father Tompson’s mission going, there's a 10th anniversary gala happening next Saturday.
Joining the Eyewitness Morning News with more on the Harry Tompson Center's 10th Anniversary Gala are the center's director, Vicki Judice, and gala chairperson Dr. Maya Irimpen, and in Frank’s Kitchen is Chef Greg Reggios who will be cooking up some great dishes for the gala.
The Harry Tompson Center's 10th Anniversary Gala, "Jewels of New Orleans," will benefit the homeless in New Orleans. It's next Saturday, March 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Jesuit High School. For more information call (504) 273-5547 and dial extension 135.
