NEW ORLEANS - Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav and Ike, the BP oil spill and now Hurricane Isaac -  Southeast Louisiana has seen more than its share of trauma in the last seven years.

How has this prolonged state of stress affected those of us who live here?

At the beginning of August each year, Dr. Eileen Palace has noticed an increase in the number of patients who experience seemingly unknown causes for heightened sadness, anxiety, sleeplessness and feelings of hopelessness.

These are symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, but at levels lower than required for a diagnosis.

Palace was in the studio with information on why she thinks we may have to redefine PTSD.
