Officially, we're not supposed to eat king cake until Monday, when Carnival Season actually begins, but for some of us, it's too good to pass up, and there will be lots of it tomorrow in Harahan at the first-ever King Cake Festival, which is also a unique fundraiser for three great charities.

Joining the Eyewitness Morning News to explain how the Kind Cake Festival will support local charities is Chef John Caluda and Lesley Forynski, both of Cottage Catering, along with Traci Howerton, a volunteer with ARNO, Animal Rescue of New Orleans.

The King Cake Festival is Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Cottage Catering and Bakery, 1536 River Oaks Road West, near the corner of Citrus and Dickory, and in addition to king cakes, whole and by the slice, there will also be lots of raffles, games and other activities, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit Team Gleason, ARNO, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
