It can be tough to get kids to dig in to their vegetables, but what better way to start fresh with eating fresh foods than on National Eat Your Vegetables Day. Registered Dietician Rebecca Miller has some tips to make eating your veggies more fun.

Best veggies for kids:

  • Calcium and Magnesium- dark leafy greens
  • Vitamin A- mushrooms
  • Vitamin C- peppers, cabbage, greens

Best veggies for teens:

  • Iron- spinach and other dark leafy greens
  • Vitamin K- dark leafy greens
  • Folate – dark leafy greens, asparagus, broccoli
  • Vitamin C – peppers, cabbage, greens

Best veggies for adults:

  • Vitamin K- dark leafy greens
  • Calcium- kale turnip mustard and collard greens
  • Potassium- artichokes, spinach, and swiss chard
  • Vitamin C- peppers, cabbage, greens

Best veggies for seniors:

  • Vitamin C – peppers grens and cabbage
  • Eye health- Glutathione: garlic and onions / Lutein- kale and spinach
  • Fiber- found in any vegetable
