National Poinsettia Day: History, care tips from Dan Gill

Today is National Poinsettia Day, as December 12 marks the death of American Botanist Joel Roberts Poinsett, who in 1828 sent cuttings of the plant he discovered in southern Mexico, to his home in Charleston South Carolina.

Now the Poinsettia plant is forever associated with the Christmas season, and joining the Eyewitness Morning News to explain more and with tips on how to keep them looking beautiful over the next few weeks is Horticulturist Dan Gill, of the Louisiana State University Ag Center.
