We've all learned to make social media a part of our daily lives - both personally and professionally – and it's also important to remember its role during a crisis, like a hurricane.

Loyola University witnessed the importance of it during Hurricane Isaac last year.

Meredith Hartley, director of public affairs and external relations for Loyola , spoke with Melanie Hebert on how social media has impacted its disaster plan. Tiffany Starnes, vice president of the local marketing and internet media company FSC  Interactive, works with Loyola on its crisis plans and also joined the Eyewitness Morning News.
