The scars of Hurricane Katrina run deep in St. Bernard Parish and remain a constant reminder of the potential power of a storm.
Because of this, the parish makes every effort to help residents plan to protect their property and their loved ones.
John Rahaim, the deputy director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for St. Bernard, was in the studio with hurricane preparedness advice for 2012.
For more information on preparing for hurricane season and for those with special needs, call the St. Bernard Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Services at 278-4322 or 278-4268.
Parish residents can also call those same numbers to get emergency alerts sent to your home phone, cell phone or e-mail address.
