An exciting new educational program is getting ready to launch in New Orleans that is part of the Stem NOLA effort. It’s designed to engage local communities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and the best part is that almost anyone of any age can participate.
Joining the Eyewitness Morning News is Doctor Calvin Mackie, to talk about Stem NOLA’s Stem Saturdays, launching this coming Saturday. Doctor Mackie is a New Orleans native and former tenured engineering professor at Tulane University.
This weekend's kick off Stem Saturdays event will be at Joe Brown Park in New Orleans East, from 9 am until noon, and it's free for everyone.
Future Stem Saturdays with Doctor Calvin Mackie will take place the second Saturday of every month. It costs $60 to participate in each session, but Stem NOLA will adjust prices based on family income, that includes family rates, and reduced rates for students who receive lunch vouchers at their respective schools.
