Home is expected to be a place of safety and security, but for more than a million American women, home is where abuse takes place.

In Louisiana, there are an estimated 12-thousand reports of domestic violence, but the New Orleans Family Justice Center is one place victims can go for help.

Joining the Eyewitness Morning News from the New Orleans Family Justice Center and their new partnership with the Verizon Wireless Hopeline is Mary Claire Landry and Nadia Whitehead from Verizon Wireless to talk about the Unmasking Domestic Violence fundraiser.

Unmasking Domestic Violence, the soiree and fundraiser for the New Orleans Family Justice Center takes place Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the River City Ballroom of Mardi Gras World, at 1380 Port of New Orleans Place.
