NEW ORLEANS - Last week, Robin Roberts announced that she has a rare form of bone marrow cancer. She is going through chemotherapy and will have to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

Sally-Ann Roberts is a perfect match to help save her sister's life.

Since the news broke, many people have wondered what they have to do for the transplant.

Dr. Julie Kanter with the Tulane University School of Medicine was in the studio to explain the procedure. Kanter wears many hats - she's also the director of the Sickle Cell Center of Southern Louisiana and interim director of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant.

Channel 4 is starting a bone marrow and organ donor awareness campaign. Over the next few months, you'll learn how easy is it to become a donor and how critical you are in saving a life.

To donate bone marrow, go to bethematch.org.

To become an organ donor, log on to lopa.org.
