Six members of Congress are in New Orleans today for the start of the 2011 offshore energy tour.

Wednesday afternoon, they will hold a joint press conference to bring the public up to date on plans to strengthen America’s energy security and proposals to lower gas prices.

Seven out of 10 Americans say high gas prices are creating hardship for them, though experts believe gas prices should drop at least another dime by Memorial Day.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R- La.) and Fred Upton, chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, spoke with Eric Paulsen about America’s energy future.
