¾ cup granulated sugar
½ cup Hershey’s Cocoa Powder
1 can evaporated milk, 5 ounce size
1/3 cup light Karo corn syrup
1/3 cup salted butter
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 large bag marshmallows
24 paper portion control cups
This is a really simple recipe and takes but a few minutes to do it.
First, in small Teflon-coated saucepan, combine the sugar and the cocoa.
Then begin stirring the mixture over medium-high heat until the sugar shows tendencies of “just starting” to melt.
At that point, pour in the evaporated milk and the corn syrup.
Then mix everything all together until uniformly blended and cook the ingredients over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
Important Note: Now boil the sauce, stirring continuously, for exactly one (1) minute.
When the time is up, immediately remove the saucepan from the fire and add in the butter and the vanilla!
Continue to stir the chocolate until the butter is fully melted and incorporated into the resultant sauce.
The only thing left to do now is lay out the paper cups and place one marshmallow in each one. Then, using a small gravy ladle, scoop out some of the warm sauce and drizzle it generously over each marshmallow in each cup. Serve it to the kids immediately (however old they happen to be) and watch them turn all chocolaty!
You might want to keep a wet washcloth handy! Oh—and I would NOT let the little gremlins sit on my beige suede sofa until they’re done chocolatizing!!!
