Today at noon Frank Davis will attend the Royal Coronation of Queen Macie, a Scottish Terrier mix, and King Jack, a Shitzu, for the Krewe de Paws Parade. The pageant will roll in the streets of Slidell along the traditional Olde Towne Parade Route beginning on First and Erlanger Streets at 6 p.m., Friday, February 25. The Krewe of Mona Lisa & Moonpie will follow the same route at 7 o'clock, beginning at the corner of Robert and Carey Streets.
According to Frank, who once served as King of The Krewe of Mona Lisa and Moonpie, the organization this year is celebrating its 27 years of Mardi Gras magic. This year's theme is "Mona Lisa's Bookclub," with costumes running the gamut of storybook characters. The Krewe de Paws' theme this year is "Howling at the Moon(pie)."
MLMP's queen this year is Charlotte Lowry Collins; her king is Terry Maddox. While both of these royals are leaders in the Slidell community, both canine royals are rescue dogs and live with their adopted families.
MLMP and KdeP are both nighttime "walking parades" and always draw hugh crowds.
