WAGGAMAN, La. – An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old have been arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of two teens found dead at a playground Sunday night.
Another person was shot and remains in critical condition.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand announced the arrests of Frankie Hookfin, 18, and an unnamed 16-year-old. Both were charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
Hookfin was booked into the parish correctional facility. The 16-year-old was booked into the Rivarde Juvenile Detention Facility.
The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Dandelion Drive in Waggaman.
The victims were identified as 17-year-old Kendrich Stewart and 15-year-old Lynnard Collins.
Normand said more details of the arrest would be given at a press conference Tuesday.
