Body found in Mississippi
GRETNA, La. – A body was found and retrieved from the Mississippi River Tuesday morning by members of the Harbor Police.
Around 7 a.m., a fuel company employee spotted the body floating in the river, on the west bank side near the intersection of Richard and First streets in Gretna, according to Harbor Police.
Police did not say whether the body was a male or female and are working to identify the person.
The cause of death has not been determined, according to Gretna Police Chief Arthur Lawson. The body was taken by Harbor Police to the coroner, where an autopsy will be conducted Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
