NEW ORLEANS -- Musicians Bret Michaels and Cyndi Lauper have been selected to reign as Krewe of Orpheus monarchs for the 2012 Carnival season, officials announced Wednesday.
Michaels, the former frontman for the 80s rock band Poison, has seen a career resurgence as a reality television star.
Lauper, a 80s pop music icon, also had a comeback of sorts, winning a Grammy award in 2011 for a blues record.
"Nonsense and Tomfoolery" is the theme for the 2012 parade, which rolls on Lundi Gras - February 20.
