BATON ROUGE, La. – An LSU graduate student fell to his death from the six-story Life Sciences building on campus Monday, according to the school.
Sarvnipun Chawla, who was a graduate student in the Department of Physics & Astronomy, was found on the ground near the building around 10:30 a.m.
LSU Police spokesman Blake Tabor said there were no signs of foul play and police were trying to determine whether the student had made a suicide attempt.
Tabor told the student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, that the student was conscious when he was found. He was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
