AMITE, La – A Mississippi man was arrested and booked with vehicular homicide and DWI after hitting the rear of a pickup truck, causing the truck to flip and ejecting the passengers and leaving one man dead, according to a State Police spokesman Trooper Nick Manale.

Around 4:40 a.m., Kevin Craig, 28, of Brandon, Miss., was travelling north of Interstate 55 when he struck the rear of a pickup truck in the fender, causing the truck to spin and flip, ejecting the four occupants, said police.

Craig was uninjured in the crash, but one of the occupants of the truck, Leon Perry, 60, of Kentwood, was pronounced dead on the scene, said police. Three other occupants were injured in the crash.

Alcohol and drug use is suspected of Craig, pending tests from the state crime lab, said police.

“Craig was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.  He was charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injury, DWI 4th offense, and following too closely and booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail,” said Manale.

Does DWI 4th Offense mean this is his forth DWI or is it a different degree of DWI such as 1st, or 2nd degree murder?

DWI 4th offense -- this man needs to be locked up for good. He has forfeited his right to drive, because he insists on driving in a drunken state. Now he has finally killed a man and injured three other occupants of the truck he crashed into in his drunken stupor. The courts should have no mercy on him. PLEASE keep him locked up. Don't let him kill another and leave loved ones behind to grieve. Condolences to the victim's family. And good wishes for recovery to the other injured passengers.

The way it is worded makes me believe it is his fourth DWI, is there something wrong with the courts or laws that allows a 28 year old to have 3 prior DWI's and commit a fouth only to kill an innocent person.

The way it is worded I have to believe this is his fourth DWI, is there something wrong with the courts or laws that allows a 28 year old to have 3 prior DWI's and commit a fourth one only to kill an innocent person? Is anyone up for re-election who allowed this to happen? The innocent person killed could have been anyone driving down that particular stretch of I-55 at that time.

After a 4/th DWI I sure hope he was also charged with a suspended license. I would be outraged to think he still had a license to drive, and 4 DWI'S TO BOOT. "Outraged" is also a word i use so i would sound decent .

this person should not be be charged or punnished, the judge`that let him out of jail should be charged with failure to follow the law.why hold and office if you fail to follow the laws.the judge allowed this to happen, along with the prosecuting attorney.they are the ones that need to be locked up.this is the same reason there is so much crime.
